Coach Josh (below) was not in survival mode like myself (above).

Early in the morning we took dad's fishing boat into the lineup at Monster Hole and our good friend and photographer Nate Adams came along to take photographs.
Nate does a great job of getting interesting things in the pictures. The North Jetty at Sebastian was full of anglers looking for that early morning snook bite while I roller coaster down the waves at Monster Hole.
Monster Hole breaks really far out and has lots of current and wildlife in the water because of it's location at the mouth of Sebastian Inlet. This wave looked like Waikiki Beach and was really fun (below).

Day Five
Thursday September 14th 2006

This great surf day started out as us just thinking we were going to do a little session in the morning and then go to school. Once we saw what happened overnight with the wind and swell we immediately knew this was the epic day.

Dad took me and my coach to Monster Hole on the boat. CT Taylor (my board shaper) and another photographer Nate Adams from Optical Tranquility all jumped on board for the 1/2 mile ride to the break.

I got so many great waves and even pulled into a little backside barrel on a right. My coach Josh busted his chin jumping off the boat and surprisingly not surfing.

When Monster Hole slowed down at high tide, we trailered the boat north and stopped at subways before checking out another surf location called RC's in Satellite Beach. RC's was Epic 10 to 12 foot faces and barreling! Woo-HOO!

I was kind of intimidated and was mainly focused on surviving, as my coach puts it, rather than doing alot of maneuvers. I think that felt like the biggest surf that I'd ever surfed. I got worked so hard and took great beating paddling out, but it was defiantly worth it for those great awesome waves. You just have to relax and not freak out and you'll make it though.

I'm back at home now writing this to you as I keep drifting off to sleep. I'm whooped! But that was the best day I have ever had surfing in Florida!
