Day Eight
Sunday September 17th 2006

First Whole Day at Cape Hatteras

Frisco Pier

We woke up at 7:00am and surfed in front of the house at Frisco Pier. The surf is 3 to 4 foot barrels and made for a fun surf session. We all had fun and I got a few little head dips (small barrels) here and there until the kooks showed up and started cutting us off on every wave, is it the same at all piers?  Nevertheless, Frisco's waves are really fun!

Breakfast, Exploration and More Surfing...

Ami, Kevin and myself decided to take a break, get breakfast and drive around to explore. Later we went to check out the surf contest and had another surf session. The waves are awesome and I took off on two big bombs and had a blast!  When everybody got back to the house we hit the jacuzzi and relaxed, it felt like heaven and you can definately feel the fall in the air here compared to home.

Later in the eveing we went back to the pier and had another awesome Cape Hatteras session. I got some good snaps here and there, but the high tide was making it difficult to get a decent wave. I hope the waves are good during my heat on Thursday, I'm anxious to get in my jersey and show the judges what I can do.

Back to the House and off to sleep...

So far I love it up here, the waves are great and I have some really good freinds to share this experience with. As I journal tonight, I'm trying to figure out this impossible math homework assignment and it doesn't help that I'm stuck with a bunch of Attention Defecent Disorder (A.D.D.) surfers that can't (or won't) help me with my math homework. Oh well, Mom will be here on Tuesday night or Wednesdy morning and she can hopefully help me sort out my math problems.

Thoughts on Thursday's Heat

I cant wait and I'm jumping off the walls to go out in my heats and surf against my competiton. The competion area has perfect barreling lefts peeling off the metal fenders that stretch out several yards into the ocean from the beach. Thats great forme as I am a goofy footer (right foot forward). Not really nervous about my heats but antzy to get out and compete at Hatteras for the first time. Sorry I don't have any pictures yet as there is no internet and Kevin has not been able to hookup his laptop to World Wide Web. [Next Day... Monday]

Until Tomorrow
Just Paddle Out...
