Viking Surfboard's Christian Wolthers in Guatemala

Possibly the best surfboards in world come from Viking Surfboards. Christian Wolthers has been grouping together the best young shapers in the United States like CT Taylor and Brian Tudor to form a core surfboard company from the ground up. I had the pleasure of surfing in Guatemala with Viking Surfboard's founder, Christian Wolthers during March/April of 2007.

Christian's Danish and Brazilian roots show him as a veteran surfer with lots of power and finesse in his moves. He's gracious enough to let me drop in on him occasionally and good enough to show me how to place himself in a tube or rip off the top of a sizeable wave.

Viking is paving the way in Guatemala for young competitive surfers to advance in the Pan/American Surfing Contest. Christian's vision coupled with fantastic energy and success is pushing surfing in Central America and making footholds on the East Coast of North America too.
