Surfing in Guatemala without my coach would not have been the same. Josh set the example for me time-and-time again on some pretty powerful beach break waves. Josh's power inspires me everytime to bump up my surfing abilities and take notes on where to hit the wave and when. Josh and I took turns watching each other from the shallow sandbars and we'd often hear cheering from the beach from both Christian and Paulo (the photographer) when we got a good one. We literally surfed alone almost every morning until the onshore winds started before noon.

Josh Gets Barreled over and over and over again

Okay, I'm working on my barrel riding abilities and trying to keep my focus while in the tube. It's easier when it's Florida's 1 to 4 foot soft waves, but these Pacific waves have punch and send you to the sandbar for a butt kicking sand blast as fast as a Guatemalan toot-toot ride (you had to be there, inside joke). Josh demonstates the backside tube ride for me while I watch from the sidelines.

Josh trains me to surf by surfing with me but also checks my diet, makes me excersise and prays with me often. He looks at surfing competition from a complete body, mind and soul view and challenges me from all of them. "You have to have balance in your life in school, work, surf and your relationship with God to be a healthy competitive surfer." explains Josh
