Powder Puff Football
Homecoming & Spirit Week
Homecoming is a special event in a highschooler's life and during a freshman's year football season it's always a fun time to spend with friends and watch the boys tear each other up on the football field while the cheerleaders banter and jump on the sidelines. My class played our first powder puff football game where the girls played football and the guys cheered and played armchair quarterbacks from the sideline.
My close friend Amber poses during a break in the action to capture the moment on camera. Amber is training and qualifying for the olympics esquarian events and is doing awesome. We encourage each other daily and often talk about our sports and what's going on during school lunch and other times.

The freshman & juniors vs. sophmore & seniors, the sophmores and seniors took off from the beginning and held their lead all the way thru the remainder of the game. While powder puff football is not supposed to be a serious event, us girls looked agressive on the field and battled for ball possession and flags for the tackle.
<--- Thats me going for the flag and I got it!
The boys didn't get into the action as much as the girls did. No cheerleading outfits or pompoms were worn or used, but the guys did a few cheers during halftime and managed to make some sort of pyramid to show us girls their support.
It was obvious that the varsity boys had the most fun coaching the girls, but the referees were constantly battling the coaches over bad calls and sideline tactics (all in good fun of course). The girls got serious as the game went past half time and the score narrowed when the freshman & juniors scored our first and only touchdown.
All in all it was a fun event along with preparing for Homecoming during spirit week at Merritt Island Christian. No one got hurt more than bruises and grassburns. The parents had a blast and it was a break for everyone to enjoy.
